The LRT – MRT and Janet
For a time, Janet (my sister) used to go to work riding the MRT. Going home, it’s the LRT. Little did she know na ang kanyang pamamangka sa dalawang ilog would lead to the loss of her poise and composure!
Manic Monday at North Avenue station: long lines, short tempers, late Ayala office workers – the whole shebang. But, she bullied people and reached the glorious turnstile! Popping in the card, Janet was shocked — there was an error message in the panel!
Then, a Jaguar Man (guar-ja) became her salvation: “Ne, pang-LRT yan. MRT ito.” She was inserting an LRT token into an MRT booth. She was going for a Gloria when it should’ve been an Erap!
The LRT and DLSU (Taft)
I had a marketing presentation in my MBA class in DLSU. Andaming people that day! Shumoot tuloy yung isang lola sa pagitan ng platform at tren. Isa namang handbag ang naipit at bumiyahe hanggang Fifth Avenue, habang yung ginang na may-ari eh naiwan sa Monumento.
Meanwhile, sumubsob ang isang guy inside the train – plakda! Syempre, hagalpakan ang mga otaws, except ako – kasi ako yung sumubsob. So, parang, debba, I just murmured na I didn’t really fall down – I was picking up my contact lens without using my hands – astig debba? Anyway, I got a 4 in my presentation, so there!
I’ve missed masters studies. The last time I went to DLSU – Taft as an MBA student was in 2000 (I think). I was a Far East Bank scholar and because of the take-over by BPI, our funding was uncertain. So, I had to discontinue my studies.
My MBA studies and my career / life are actually a bitter-sweet relationship — you spend a lot of your spare time (if any) doing research and planning for presentations and examinations. But it’s really fulfilling once you listen to your professors and some great insights from your fellow students.
De La Salle – Taft is a great campus. Well, it’s not really perfect in some ways (there wasn’t a place to take a nap or siesta before my after-lunch subject and you had to take a nap because you felt sleepy at 1:00 to 2:00 PM). Everything else — facilities, the corridors, the nearness to the LRT and especially the library — was okay. The best part of my stay there was the class presentations and recitations (especially if you studied for the session).
Maybe I’ll get to continue my masters studies someday and it doesn’t have to be at DLSU – Taft.
Yale, Harvard, Ivy League or Princeton would do.
My father is retired from being a Public Utility Jeepney driver. A lot of our friends from Christ Enthroned Church – Meycauayan have been telling us that my father — Jimmy Daga Anzures — looks like Pope Benedict XVI.
I think it’s because of the hair, or the fact that he has deep-set eyes. Or the fact that he thinks that he owns the Vatican. Come to think of it, it’s kinda cool to have a Pope in the house. You can request him to suspend a day for a saint’s birthday.
He’s been very supportive of the whole family. For me, he’s been my constant companion when I’m participating in a contest or a project. We often go out together (our own version of Boy’s Day Out) to Ma Mon Luk or watch movies (our last one was Alien vs. Predator). In church, he’s one of the ushers and he’s very dedicated to his ministry. Few people believe the family when we tell them that he cooks, washes the dog, washes our clothes, cleans the house and tends the plants. So, does he look like the man in the Vatican?
